If anyone can appreciate a good laugh from Brer Rabbit, it's Brer Terrapin.

Done for my mother for Christmas.

Characters are the copyright of all of the talented story tellers that brought their prior incarnations over from Africa and Joel Chandler Harris who made them into a part of Southern American heritage.

Done with various pens and prisma pencils on tinted cardstock.

I wish I could make something like this for my mum for her Christmas...

This is such a beautiful, inspiring piece of traditional work. Not only are the characters stunning and lively but the world you have penciled around them is just full of its own life, from the detailing on the lily pads to the wistful fields of grass and trees behind them. And I love the littler things like the fishing hook hanging off the hare's toe, and the the striped marking on the (snapper?) turtle. Well done, and what a lucky mum for getting to recieve such talent and effort from her daughter for her Christmas :)

I think I liked Brer Tyrannosaurus the most.

Straight people are just gay for the opposite sex.
Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment. I really appreciate it. Backgrounds have never been easy for me, so I'm glad that you think I've pulled it off decently *blushes*!

The turtle is a red-eared slider. I tried to make him look like a species that would be native to Georgia.

Thanks again.

Good art simply deserves thought and praise, I like to think, and I like to practice :)

And I believe this may call for a proper introduction, and well
Don't you see, I'm the narrator, and this is just the prologue?

After trawling through a lot of poorly drawn tat and 'ooo look, I'm such a rebel!' shots of chilly looking underfed women, it is just so nice to find a piece that not only makes me click the thumbnail, but also go in for a closer look.

Such a wonderful, warm hearted drawing - your mum is very lucky! I simply cannot fault this - from the wonderful composition to the flawless colouring, this IS art! :+fav:
